The Belleville Senators rebounded well on Saturday night with a 5-2 victory over the Laval Rocket.

After a 4-1 loss to the Utica Comets last Sunday, Belleville looked to return to the winning column against divisional rival Quebec.

Forward Mark Kastelic opened the scoring for Belleville with his fourth of the season thanks to assists from Chris Wilkie and Cole Reinhardt.

Just after halfway through the first period, the Rocket equalized the game with a goal from Lukas Vejdemo.

The second period was one of the first for two B-Sens as the Sens took the lead on Zac Leslie and Max Guenette’s first goals of the season and their professional careers, the first to come on the power play.

With 30 seconds left in the period, the Rocket scored once again to reduce the lead to 3-2 before the second intermission.

In the third period, the score remained at 3-2 until the final minutes when Dillon Heatherington and Matthew Wedman of Belleville both scored into the empty net to score the Senators’ 5-2 victory.

For his part, goaltender Mads Sogaard repelled 35 of the 37 shots received on the evening and even collected an assist on Wedman’s goal while securing his fourth victory of the season.

On the scoresheet, it was Kastelic who led the way for Belleville with a goal and an assist for two points, bringing his season tally to seven points in 14 games.

Then, the Belleville Senators hit the road to face the Syracuse Crunch in a fight Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
