CAMPBELL – Robert “Bob” Farmintino, 75, died Sunday, January 16, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Bob was born on December 4, 1946 in Youngstown, the son of Rocco and Ruth Sinsley Farmintino.
He graduated in 1964 from Campbell Memorial High School and later earned his bachelor’s degree in history and science education from Youngstown State University.
A lifelong Campbell resident, Bob was known to many for his more than 40-year career as an insurance agent.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell.
Bob’s greatest joy in life was attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events and earning the title of official “dad” for all of the kids on the team. He also enjoyed watching live horse races, casino outings and, no matter the sporting event, supporting the opposing team to the one the rest of the family was cheering on.
Bob had a special gift for lighting up the room. No matter the time, place or occasion, he could always make you smile and laugh.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, the former Darlene Eadie, whom he married on May 19, 1973; three daughters, Melissa (Andy) VanJura, Sheri (John-G) Lebenich and Shanon (Rob) Farmintino, all of Campbell; son, Robert C. Farmintino of Youngstown; nine grandchildren, Briana (Jay) and Joseph Lebenich, Mary Jennings and Andrew VanJura, Kirsten (Nick), Sydney and Brendan Hurd, Philip and Gina Farmintino; and three great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Nolan and Emilia Zaitzew, and Ellie Jennings. Bob is also survived by his brother, Russell (Dorothy) Farmintino; and his sister, Rita (Jay) Hodshon; his godson, Russell Farmintino Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Bob was predeceased by his parents; one brother, Ronald Farmintino; and a son-in-law, Joseph Lebenich.
The Farmintino family entrusted Bob’s care to Campbell’s Wasko Funeral Home. A private funeral was held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the funeral home, with the Reverend Kevin Marks officiating.
