Malayalam actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran continues his box office winning streak. His latest film Kaduva, which received mixed reviews, managed to ring the cash registers at the Kerala box office.
According to reports, Kaduva has managed to earn more than Rs 40 crore from its ticket sales worldwide. And the trade expects the film to cross the Rs 50 crore mark soon as well.
Kaduva is written and directed by Shaji Kailas. The film tells the story of a man who fights a political power struggle in order to protect his pride. The film had come under a lot of fire after dialogue delivered by Prithviraj’s character was deemed insensitive towards children with disabilities. After the issue gained traction, Prithviraj and Shaji issued an apology, admitting the mistake. The makers also removed controversial dialogue from the film, which was already playing in cinemas.

“This whole movie, which is a celebration of vanity, is so excruciatingly boring. One can’t help but wonder, who still finds idle rides and frequent mustache twirling a product of big-screen entertainment? wrote Manoj Kumar R of Indianexpress.com in his review of Kaduva.
Prithviraj’s last theatrical release was the political thriller Jana Gana Mana. The film was a commercial and critical success.
