Columbus, Ohio (WCMH) – Musical artist Nightbirde, who went viral last summer during her brilliant audition for “America’s Got Talent,” said she still feels incredibly lucky to sing and write while battling cancer .

Nightbirde, from Ohio, made headlines in June after earning a Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer for his interpretation of an original song.

“You can’t wait until life isn’t harder before you decide to be happy,” she said after finishing her performance.

Earlier this week, Nightbirde appeared on CNN with Chris Cuomo to talk about her health, the vacation, and how she maintains a positive outlook. Cuomo also showcased her appearance with the same quote, adding that she walks “the walk” when it comes to being happy in the face of adversity.

Nightbirde has kept a low profile in recent months, stepping away from the “America’s Got Talent” competition to focus on battling his deadly disease.

“Well, you know what, I wish we could get a miracle faster, but it’s happening slowly, little by little, day by day. I’m a little better, ”Nightbirde said during his segment on“ Cuomo Prime Time ”. “I got a scan result and a bunch of things that were there are now gone and a bunch of really big stuff shrunk in size therefore, we are on the way.

When asked if she was comfortable enough to continue chasing her dreams, Nightbirde replied that she was.

“I think life is sometimes a game of, choose your pain, so the pain to continue or the pain to give up. So the pain of continuing, there is a lot more uncertainty that way, but I think the pain of giving up is a lot worse.

The conversation also focused on Nighbirde’s vacation plans.

“I shouldn’t, shouldn’t be alive right now based on the usual stats,” she said. “So every year when that moment comes, it’s special for the whole family. ”

“Sometimes I think we are the luckiest because if we can really see the sweetness of life and the miracle is to love and to be loved,” she added. “And for, dreaming and having, you know, the chance to have a future.” I don’t know if I will ever get used to the weight of this, or I don’t know if I will, I don’t know if it will someday be laid back for me again, just for a living. “

She also confirmed that she was still working on new music, even though it was not “100%”.

“I am so happy to sing,” she said. “I couldn’t stop smiling today.”
