TEXANS PLAYER TO WATCH: Rookie running back Dameon Pierce. Athon Sports writes that Pierce’s 313 rushing yards lead all rookies, but it was his noticeably increasing production in the young season that impressed coaches.
JAGUARS PLAYER TO WATCH: QB Trevor Lawrence looked just like the player the Jaguars expected when they selected No. 1 overall from Clemson before last season. Lawrence has been particularly bright in the past two games, passing for 487 yards and five touchdowns without turnovers or sacks in wins over the Colts and Chargers. For the season, Lawrence completed 77 of 111 passes for 772 yards and six touchdowns, one INT, two sacks and a 103.1 rating. He was honored as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after matching his career high with three touchdowns against the Chargers.

KEY INJURIES: Jaguars CB Shaquill Griffin (hip) missed a win over the Chargers after picking up an injury in practice the previous Friday but returned to practice this week. The Jaguars coach wasn’t as hopeful of substitute lineman Cole Van Lanen’s (hamstring) chances of taking the field. He was absent from practice on Wednesday.
The Texans’ No. 1 cornerback, Derek Stingley Jr., was a full participant in Thursday’s practice. BVM Sports reported that the talented cornerback’s fans were beaten up several times last Sunday. Defensive end Jon Greenard also did not participate for a second straight day. Tight end Brevin Jordan appears to be missing his third straight game.
SERIE NOTES: The Texans have won the last 8 games, tying them as one of the fourth-longest active winning streaks in the NFL against an opponent. The Texans lead the all-time series, 27-13.
