Gentlemen on the Road Friday in Texas Lutheran

Seguin, Texas – The Centenary men’s football team continues its longest road trip of the season this weekend, starting with a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest against the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. at Gustafson Field.



The Gents (1-4-5, 0-1 SCAC) are coming off a 3-0 loss at Colorado College last Sunday in their conference opener, suffering their first loss since mid-September after winning four straight games before the loss to the Tigers. Texas Lutheran enters Friday’s game at 5-3-3 overall and 1-1 in SCAC play. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series, 13-2-1.

Centenary set the record for most draws in a season in the Division III era (2011–present) which previously stood at three. The Maroon and White finished in draws against Sul Ross State (September 3) and ETBU (September 16) and also tied LeTourneau, McMurry and Texas-Dallas.

Senior MF Jaron Petreas (Denton, Texas) is the offensive leader for the Gents as he sits in the midst of a stellar campaign with five goals, four assists and 14 points. He currently leads the conference in assists, ranks second in points and fourth in goals and shots. He’s among the D3-era career leaders in goals (10), assists (5) and points (25) and has a pair of game-winning goals in his impressive career.

F sophomore Ron Masti (Houston, TX) and rookie F Aaron Myers (Plano, TX) are tied for second on the team in goals with three each and MF sophomore Brennan Amato (Denham Springs, La.) is second on the team in assists with two.

Gents senior goaltender Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, La.) had a season-high nine saves in 90 minutes on Sunday and his 37 saves this season currently rank fourth in the conference. Borchalli is the all-time D3-era leader in career shutouts with 14.

Centenary will face TLU’s Luis Green, the conference’s top scorer this season with 10. Senior GK Caleb Weed, one of the SCAC’s top goaltenders, leads the league in goals-against average (0.53) and sits ranks eighth in saves (16) and has recorded six shutouts.
