Construction work underway on South Lake Tahoe’s Sugar Pine Village affordable housing project | South of Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Trees are felled at the site of the Sugar Pine Village affordable housing project in South Lake Tahoe as crews begin Phase 1 of the long-awaited launch. With the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) grading season ending Oct. 15, the contractor will complete tree demolition, remove tree stumps, clear and rip out, and then winterize the site.

Final site work, underground utilities and vertical construction will resume in the spring.

The first phase will consist of 68 100% affordable housing units built with the necessary infrastructure and landscaping. The first phase also includes more than 100 parking spaces and play areas for children. Phase 1 income eligibility will be for households in the range of 30-60% of Area Media Income (AMI). Income requirements will be at the time of rental, but at that time those earning around $26,100 to $52,200 per year would qualify. Eligible income levels will be released as the project gets closer to rental, as they are updated annually.

When completed, Sugar Pine Village will offer 248 one-, two- and three-bedroom units.
