Babylon’s Fall will close on February 28, 2023

Square Enix has announced the end of the service for The fall of Babylon. The online-exclusive action RPG will cease to exist on February 28, 2023 (February 27, 2023, at 11 p.m. PDT). The company will also take down the game’s server and shut down its official Hanging Garden website on the same day.

Babylon’s Fall was first revealed as a collaborative project between Square Enix and PlatinumGames at E3 2018. The former announced later in 2021 that this title would appear as an online-exclusive live service.

The game finally launched on March 3 this year on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. However, the public reception of the service game had been dismal; at one point on May 4, Steam Charts recorded only one concurrent player accessing the game on the PC platform. The title had barely been around for about 6 months when Square Enix announced its closure. He won’t live to see a full birthday by the time his plug is unplugged at the end of next February.

Thank you so much for playing BABYLON’S FALL.

With the desire to deliver an exhilarating online multiplayer action-RPG set in an elaborate high-fantasy world, we launched the game’s official service on Thursday, March 3, 2022, and have continued to undertake additional development and operations. However, it is with deep regret that we inform you that we will be ending the service of the game on February 27, 2023.

As a result, we will also be canceling the large-scale updates we had planned. As for the plan going forward, Season 2 will run until Tuesday, November 29, 2022, as scheduled, and the final season will begin with scheduled maintenance on the same day. This Final Season is when you can earn the Season 2 Ranking Rewards.

In order to express our gratitude to all our players, we plan to implement as many events and other initiatives as possible, until the end of the service.

Till today, we have received lots of feedback from all of our Sentinels through multiple surveys, official live streams, our official Discord server and social media channels, which has been of great help to us in development and operations teams. In particular, through our surveys, we received many enthusiastic messages of support as well as specific observations of issues and suggestions for improvement. It really made us feel like we could create the world of BABYLON’S FALL with our players. Despite all your support, we are really sad and sorry to tell you that we will not be able to continue the service of the game.
